Twinkle twinkle little star,
How I wonder what you are,
Up above world so high,
Like a diamond in the sky,

 

When the blazing sun is gone,
When there's nothing he shines upon,
Then you show your little light,
and Twinkle, twinkle, through the night.

 

In the dark blue sky you keep,
And through my curtains you often peep
For you never shut your eye,
Till the sun is in the sky

 

Then the traveler in the dark
Thanks you for your tiny spark;
He couldn't see which way to go,
If you didn't twinkle so.
Though I don't know what you are,
twinkle twinkle little star

 

Twinkle twinkle little star,

Fonkel fonkel kleine ster,
ik ben benieuwd wat je bent,
zo hoog boven de wereld,
als een diamant in de lucht,

als de brandende zon weg is,
als er niets is wat hij verlicht,
dan laat jij je lichtje zien,
en fonkelt, fonkelt de hele nacht door.

Aan de donkerblauwe hemel sta je,
en door mijn gordijnen gluur je vaak
want je sluit je ogen pas,
als de zon aan de hemel staat
