Except the Lord build the house,
they labour in vain that build it;
except the Lord keep the city,
the watchman waketh but in vain.

 

Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us,
but unto Thy name give glory.
We will bless the Lord 
from this time forth and for evermore.

Als de HEERE het huis niet bouwt

.

Als de HEERE het huis niet bouwt,
tevergeefs zwoegen zijn bouwers eraan;
als de HEERE de stad niet bewaart,
tevergeefs waakt de wachter.

 

Niet ons, HEERE, niet ons,
maar geef Uw Naam eer.
Wíj zullen de HEERE loven,
van nu aan tot in eeuwigheid.
